I am traditionally trained in 10 years of ballet and 16 years of Chinese folk dancing. I founded Tianyi Dance Team in the winter of 2012. The idea blossomed from the friendship of two graduating seniors, Joyce Yu and Rosie Zhang, who spent a semester building up a constitution for the university-sanctioned team which they recruited myself and 5 other dancers to. From there I was elected President in 2013 and then Artistic Director in 2014. We designed out auditions, distributed board roles, and developed young choreographers to carry out the vision of bring Chinese Dance Culture to the campus and surrounding community.

The team has grown and evolved over the years – a testament to the passion of the dancers within it especially as they pulled together a showcase during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. We had our 10-year anniversary in April of 2022, and many of the alumni from the original team showed up. Having this team and pouring my heart into it helped me through my darkest battles with mental health. I am forever grateful for having these beautiful memories to look back on, and for making lifelong friends with these women.
I choreographed or arranged the dances below. I am also one of the dancers in them.
I also played around with lyrical improvisations over the years:
I have stopped dancing after graduation, but I really hope to get back into it again.
